Things We Do:
Tutor Students –at no charge to the individuals
Tutor Training – basic and advanced training for local volunteers
Tutor Support - monthly support meetings to discuss ways and means for improvement
New Power Readers Club – monthly meetings for students to encourage, motivate and celebrate achievements.
Library – books for all reading levels for students and tutors
Prison – Weekly tutoring of inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison.
Satellite Programs – daily tutoring at four local church halls.


What is Project Read?
Project Read is a free and confidential service that teaches adult non-readers to learn to read. Project Read has helped improve the literacy levels of over 1,000 Bahamians.
Mission Statement
The purpose of Project Read Bahamas is to enable individuals to acquire the listening, speaking and reading skills they need to solve the problems they encounter in daily life: to take full advantage of opportunities in their environment and to participate fully in the positive transformation of their Society.
